BMW’s M3 is arguably the most famous sports model to ever come out of the manufacturer. Starting with the e30 M3 in 1986, the M3 always represented a fast, fun to drive car that retained a practical body style and had tremendous aftermarket support to make it your own. When the e92 BMW M3 debuted in 2007, it immediately became a favorite of automotive journalists and driving enthusiasts worldwide. Although it was critiqued for being bigger and heavier than the previous car, any issues people had went out the window as soon as they ran the all-new S65 4.0-liter V8 up to its 8,400 RPM redline. The new M3 had more muscle than any of the previous generations, but unlike a traditional muscle car, it could also handle with some of the best performance cars of the day. If that wasn’t enough, the E9X generation stands as the final naturally aspirated M car to come from BMW, guaranteeing its classic status going forward.
This 2013 E92 M3 was produced at the end of 2012, and entered dealer inventory at Plaza Audi in St. Louis, MO on January 1st, 2013. Finished in Melbourne Red, this M3 coupe has been under the care of two owners from new and, at the time of cataloging, shows just 11,495 miles. The E92 shape was an instant favorite among enthusiasts and wears the M3 modifications exceptionally well. Subtle fender flares paired with the M side strakes, a hood with both a power dome and heat extractor vents, and a rear fascia with the M-signature quad exhaust tips. What makes ever E92 look even better is the addition of the Competition Package found on this car -19” Y-spoke wheels and a 10mm suspension drop gives the car an even more sporting look while improving handling at the same time.
Black Novillo leather covers the seats, door cards and center console, and the steering wheel is black leather-wrapped with deviated M colored stitching. One of the signature interior design elements of the E9X M3s is the optional “Carbon Leather” dash trim inlay, which is, quite literally, leather with a carbon fiber print on it. This car is fitted with heated front seats and the Premium Package, which fits it with power front seats, a power rear sunshade, a navigation system with iDrive and power-folding side-view mirrors. The E92 M3’s cabin is an exceptionally comfortable place to spend your time, and given the ultra-low miles, it almost goes without saying that this interior is essentially flawless.
Powering this M3 is the famed BMW S65 engine- producing 414 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque, the S65 is capable of revving to 8,400 RPM and produces seamless power all the way through the rev range. This engine is connected to a 7-Speed DCT gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. What makes this gearbox so exciting is its ability to shift with lightning-fast speed and precision while out on track but also makes driving in town easier as well. As a Competition Package equipped car, the ride height is dropped by 0.4” and the wheels are pushed out further to the corners of the vehicle thanks to their increased dimensions. Additionally, the Electronic Damping Control system and Dynamic Stability Control offer increased responsiveness and greater adjustability, allowing you to truly tune in exactly how you want the car to perform.
We love all M cars at EAG but the E9X generation M3 holds a special place in our hearts. Between its screaming S65 V8, neutral handling dynamics, overall comfort and just being the right size for our favorite back roads, it is no surprise collectors are already starting to seek these cars out to add to their stables. Melbourne red over black leather is an outstanding color combination on these cars and this one, with its ultra-low mileage, is a proper collector-grade example.
