Rejuvenation: E36 M3 & E39 M5

Where this holds most true for our Rejuvenation clients. These are people who ship their beloved BMWs from around the world to Ohio for us to service and preserve. We recently had the opportunity to showcase our approach with a client who sent two of his vehicles - both firmly cemented in the analog era and are now ready to be enjoyed once again as if fresh off the showroom floor. These vehicles - an Avus Blue E36 M3 and Titanium Silver E39 M5 - are special to us but even more beloved by our client.

Rejuvenation: E36 M3 & E39 M5

Where this holds most true for our Rejuvenation clients. These are people who ship their beloved BMWs from around the world to Ohio for us to service and preserve. We recently had the opportunity to showcase our approach with a client who sent two of his vehicles - both firmly cemented in the analog era and are now ready to be enjoyed once again as if fresh off the showroom floor. These vehicles - an Avus Blue E36 M3 and Titanium Silver E39 M5 - are special to us but even more beloved by our client.

When these vehicles arrived earlier this year, we immediately started our arrival process. This begins with a visual inspection by our cosmetic and condition team, as well as a full mechanical rundown of what is currently in need of repair. When we get the full scope of what’s needed, we can also recommend proactive services that need doing and overlap with what we’re already doing so that we don’t need to dive into things twice. All of this effort in the beginning allows us to write a roadmap outlining everything required for a full rejuvenation.

The E36 M3's Journey

Typically, at EAG, we deal with low-mile cars - even still, we typically find plenty of things they need to bring them back to showroom condition, so this car was different for us. When it arrived to us, this example was approaching 120,000 miles, but you wouldn't know, based on the condition. This is a testament to this client's attention to care and is also the perfect platform to showcase our processes. Between all of the fluids/filters being replaced, a cooling system overhaul, re-sealing gaskets at the top and bottom of the engine, and replacing worn-out suspension components... This M3 is now mechanically ready to tackle any driving adventure.

Given the miles on this M3, it was bound to need a bit of cosmetic freshening - but the list was surprisingly minimal. We started with a front bumper refinish, exterior seal replacement, rear parcel shelf reconditioning, and, of course, given the nature of the E36... door panel repair. Through these jobs, we turned this slightly tired-looking M3 into a pristine classic. All this work has been performed in-house, keeping quality within our control. Once all of our other work was completed, a full paint correction and ceramic coating ensured the appearance would be admired for years.

The E39 M5's Journey

This E39 showed just over 17,000 miles when it arrived at our facility- a true EAG-spec example- and we were looking forward to digging in. As you'd expect with the mileage, nothing was especially wrong, but regardless of how you store a car, you can't beat time, so everything made of rubber needed to be addressed. It's easy to visualize this as items like engine drive belts, power steering hoses, and various seals. You would be partially correct, but suspension components are also a key area to properly inspect, be it bushings or protective boots that perish over time and leave the car’s driving experience feeling a bit tired.

Ultimately, everything was sealed up and pressed into place, and it now drives like new. This allowed our conditioning team to work their magic and challenge themselves to better the visuals on a car with just 17k miles. And they succeeded as expected! Items like the kidney grills, lower splash pan panels, center console trim, instrument cluster surround, rear-view mirror, and both bumpers were replaced to wash away any minor blemishes that come from driving. As with the M3, this was then treated “with a single stage paint correction and has been coated with Crystal Serum Ultra by our friends at Gtechniq to help lock in its appearance.”

It was an honor that this client sent us two of his most beloved cars and we were able to demonstrate the breadth of what our team can accomplish. Be it a near-showroom condition 17,000-mile example or a thoroughly enjoyed 120,000-mile car, EAG has the know-how to make them the best they can be and get you back to enjoying the cars as they were designed.
