EAG Impressions
The E9X series (E90 sedan, E91 wagon, E92 coupe, E93 convertible) continued BMW's tradition of evolutionary design for the 3-Series. This generation saw increased globalization of BMW's lineup, with U.S. models more closely matching their European counterparts in terms of available engines and features. The E92 M3, powered by a high-revving V8, was virtually identical in both markets, marking a significant milestone for American BMW enthusiasts who had long envied European-spec models.
Overview
This 2013 BMW M3 is finished in LeMans Blue and has been under the care of just two owners from new. First sold through Patrick BMW/Mini of Schaumburg, IL, the car remained with its original owner until May of 2021 when it was sold to a buyer in the greater Ohio area. Showing 37,015 miles at the time of cataloging, this car is in exceptional condition throughout. Fitted from the factory with the sought-after Competition Package, this M3 sits on coveted 19” Y-spoke wheels and a 10mm lower ride height, dynamic damper control suspension with three selectable suspension modes. The only modifications noted on this M3 are the carbon fiber decklid spoiler and the blacked out grilles at the front of the car.
The interior of the E92 M3 is a beautifully simple design, and although there is a central infotainment screen, still gives much of the analog driving experience enthusiasts crave these days. This car’s interior is wrapped in supple Black Novillo leather, which covers the seats and steering wheel, and a strip of attractive “carbon leather” on the dashboard which was a hallmark of the E9X generation M3. As you would expect on a car with such incredibly low miles, the interior could be mistaken for being brand new, with hardly any wear on the steering wheel and barely any creasing on the bolsters of the seats.
Powering the E90 generation M3 is the infamous S65 DOHC V8, which produces 414 horsepower and revs all the way to 8,400 rpm. As BMW's final naturally aspirated M engine, this one made a statement. With 8 individual throttle bodies and VANOS variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust cams, the S65 is capable of providing gobs of low-end power while still revving higher than almost any other V8 on the market and making power around the tachometer. Paired with this V8 is a quick-shifting 7-speed Dual Clutch transmission equipped with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This transmission works in perfect harmony with the responsive engine, providing precise shifts during spirited driving and convenient two-pedal driving in traffic.
