EAG Impressions
The E9X series (E90 sedan, E91 wagon, E92 coupe, E93 convertible) continued BMW's tradition of evolutionary design for the 3-Series. This generation saw increased globalization of BMW's lineup, with U.S. models more closely matching their European counterparts in terms of available engines and features. The E92 M3, powered by a high-revving V8, was virtually identical in both markets, marking a significant milestone for American BMW enthusiasts who had long envied European-spec models.
Overview

Towards the end of E90 M3 production, BMW wanted to make a few special edition cars to keep people excited about the car while they were preparing for the launch of the F80. One of the most sought-after limited-run cars from this time were those in Frozen Silver- a specially developed matte finish from BMW and one of the earliest matte finishes offered by an OEM. The Frozen Silver cars were produced in ultra limited numbers with only 40 units produced for the North American market. Along with the special paint, all of the Frozen Silver cars featured Shadowline blacked-out chrome trim, black kidney grilles, and a beautiful set of 19” M Performance wheels in black.
This 2012 Frozen Silver E92 M3 was delivered new in November of 2011 in South Carolina, and used sparingly by its first owner, racking up just 3,573 miles in four years when it received its first comprehensive service. At the time of cataloging, the car shows just 8,783 miles and is on its second trip through EAG. Along with the Frozen Silver paint and special features that come with it, this car was ordered with the Competition Package, with the stunning 19-inch split-spoke wheels - finished in black to match the rest of the exterior trim - and when paired with a 10mm suspension drop and Dynamic Damper Control that can change the car’s character at the push of a button, you wouldn’t want your M3 any other way.
The interior is also unique for the Frozen Silver cars, consisting of Black extended Novillo leather with white deviated stitching and a stripe of Palladium Silver leather in the center of each seatback. Carbon fiber encases the central dash trim, the lower center console, and lower door trim, and unique chequered flag kickplates have also been fitted. The steering wheel is Alcantara wrapped, and the hand brake lever is stitched with “M Power” and features the Motorsport division’s tri-color stripes.
Powered by BMW’s famous 4.0-liter S65 V8, the E92 M3 produces 414 horsepower and 298 lb-ft of torque and is known for its truly remarkable 8,250 rpm redline. On this car, the engine is paired to a 7-speed DCT gearbox, which offers lightning-fast shifting and is a joy to drive around town.
History
When this car first came to us in 2020, it showed 7,777 miles, and we went through it with a fine-toothed comb. As you can imagine, with so few miles, there was very little that needed doing, but we noticed a few minor leaks and seeps beginning and addressed all of those before they became a larger concern. This included removing the transmission to replace the Mechatronics sealing sleeve and the rear pinion seal on the differential. We also performed our usual EAG inspections and gave the car a comprehensive detail both inside and out, and installed a new battery.
