The E9X series (E90 sedan, E91 wagon, E92 coupe, E93 convertible) continued BMW's tradition of evolutionary design for the 3-Series. This generation saw increased globalization of BMW's lineup, with U.S. models more closely matching their European counterparts in terms of available engines and features. The E92 M3, powered by a high-revving V8, was virtually identical in both markets, marking a significant milestone for American BMW enthusiasts who had long envied European-spec models.
Overview
This 2013 E92 M3 Coupe is an absolutely stunning example, finished in Interlagos Blue and showing 17,516 miles at the time of cataloging. This M3 was fitted from the factory with the sought-after Competition Package, fitting the car with the coveted 19” Y-spoke wheels and a 10mm lower ride height, dynamic damper control suspension with three suspension modes. One often discussed feature of the E92 was the use of an exposed carbon fiber roof, installed in an effort to keep the weight off the top of the vehicle and offering a very motorsport look in the process. The carbon theme is continued with a lovely set of carbon fiber mirror caps, a carbon decklid spoiler and blacked-out kidney grilles to round the look.
The interior of the car is wrapped in Platinum Novillo extended leather upholstery. This light gray is one of the least common interior colors on the E92 generation and offers a dramatic contrast with the deep blue paint. One of the first signs of use on sporty cars like this with large seat bolsters is creases in the seat leather- this car exhibits almost none of those, and the seats, steering wheel, and center console even show a nearly matte finish as if the car were brand new. The extended leather fits the M3 with color-matched leather on the center console, door cards, and lower dash, which on this car is accented by the E9X chassis’s signature Carbon Leather along the center dashboard.
Under the hood is BMW’s famed S65 V8- a true performance jewel, this engine produces 414 horsepower and will happily rev to 8,400 rpm and sounds great doing it. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this is the true enthusiast’s choice and one of the most fun ways to enjoy this masterpiece of an engine. The Competition Package fits the M3 with revised programing for both the traction and stability control, offering higher limits and allowing for a bit more slip before the car starts bringing you back into line.
We love all M cars at EAG but the E9X generation M3 holds a special place in our hearts. Between its screaming S65 V8, neutral handling dynamics, overall comfort and just being the right size for our favorite back roads, it is no surprise collectors are already starting to seek these cars out to add to their stables.
History
This vehicle started its journey in Houston Texas were the original owner took care and sparingly enjoyed it for almost 10 years and 16k miles until it was time to part ways. The undercarriage is spotless and shows it was never driven in poor weather and stored properly after use.
