One of the rarest BMW’s ever produced, only 453 M1’s were built! (54 Pro Cars / 399 Street Cars). The E26 M1 has the Paul Roche designed M88 3.5 liter 6-cylinder engine that develops 277 HP. This hand built vehicle was the first mid-engine BMW to be mass produced. This specific example has a great history with several prominent owners in the BMW community. The first owner is believed to be a very well-known car collector in the fashion industry. The second owner was Bill Jacobs, of Bill Jacobs BMW, in Illinois. The third owner was Gordon Medenica, founder of the M1 registry and first President of the BMWCCA; this specific car was his second and final M1. The next owner was Bobby Rahal, of Bobby Rahal BMW, in Pennsylvania. The most recent custodian owned the vehicle for the past decade. He is a well-known collector, vintage race car driver and former chairman of Merrill Lynch International. This M1 is well-documented from Gordon Medenica’s 1996 ownership to current; EAG is working on sourcing documentation confirming the first owner as well. Mileage confirmed by service records.
